One more day till Language Festival!!!

We had a busy day finalizing things for tomorrow's performance.

In the first two periods, we had a rehearsal, and then also did some final preparations for the show, as well as completed a Thanksgiving activity.
The Science quiz took place after recess.
In the afternoon, the students got to show how pictures tell a story and design a book cover for our Language Festival reader's theater. We also reviewed some past quizzes (please return them next week).
To end the day, we had a school-wide rehearsal.

HOMEWORK: due MONDAY!

1) Spelling Tic Tac Toe - choose one task from each column.
New Spelling words for December 4th test - producer, flood, consumer, high, nickel, eagle, seaweed, carrot, erosion, middle, months, along, November, Wednesday

2) Reading Response - please complete one task on how a part of the story relates to you (response worksheet is in the reading log)

 NOTICES:
  • Tomorrow we have Mass at 8:30am, so please have your child at school no later than 8:20am 
  • following Mass, we will have a short break the Language Festival will begin about 10am. Please arrive shortly before and don't forget to bring the food to share for the Family Lunch immediately following the show
  • Thanksgiving Family Lunch - approximately 11:45am - 12:45pm. Following the lunch, the students are dismissed and will need to be picked up.
  • Early Dismissal - students are dismissed at 12:45pm, please have your child picked up at this time.

Howdy, howdy!

Today, we..............

  • prepared our headbands and props for the Language Festival
  • investigated food chains and made food chains (pictures tomorrow)
  • had a Math quiz on Probability
  • discussed physical changes to Earth, slow (erosion, glaciers) and fast (flood, earthquake)
  • quiz on "What Do Illustrators Do?"
  • ECA - practiced for Language Festival


HOMEWORK:
1) Language Writing - please write a paragraph about Thanksgiving. What does being thankful mean to you? What are you thankful for? (5-10 sentences).
2) Please study for the Science quiz tomorrow

NOTICES:
- yesterday there was a newsletter sent home regarding important schedule/calendar changes made for the remainder of the year. Please review the changes and become familiar with the new holidays/school days/half days for exams.

- sounds like we're all ready to go with our costumes for the Language Festival - Great work!  Thanks for your help. I'm excited to see the final performance as the students have been working so hard. I hope you can all join us.

Welcome back to the work week!

In Social Studies this morning, we saw what satellites are and what they do, and how they can provide geographers with information.

The math quiz is tomorrow, so the students got to review by making a probability game, ensuring it was fair, and calculating the probability of each outcome.





In Reading, we made connections among stories by comparing and contrasting different Jack and the Beanstalk stories.

ECA - Language Festival practice.

HOMEWORK:
1) Journeys vocabulary sentences - please use each vocabulary word on p. 222-223 and write a sentence of at least 6 words.

2) find your costume (clothes, props) or whatever you need for the Language Festival. I have messaged every students' parent(s) with ideas, but if you have any questions, please let me know. If anyone has a toy microphone or hammer that we could borrow for our show,  please bring it to school tomorrow.


NOTICES:
  • Language Festival is on Thursday - the show will begin around 10am, please arrive accordingly.
  • After the Language Festival, we will have lunch until 12:45pm, and then the students will be dismissed for the long weekend. Please pick your child(ren) up at 12:45pm on Thursday.
  • Math and Reading quiz tomorrow
  • Science quiz on Wednesday
