Dec. 16, 2015

Good afternoon everybody!

We had such a great day today unwinding from the final exams.

We went for a nice brisk walk in the morning all the way to the Art Museum. We had a scavenger hunt in the park, and the Yellow House was the quickest to find all the objects, but all teams did a great job searching.

Snack time was followed by some time in the sand searching for house team colored shapes. Again, the Yellow House found theirs first, but it was fun for everybody playing in the sand.

We then went into the museum to see a couple of exhibits, share some laughs, and enjoy each other's company.

In the afternoon, the students attentively watched "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas," presented by our Student Council.

Dec. 11, 2015

Welcome to the last day of classes!

The students have been working hard all week finishing up some new material, but mainly reviewing and completing the Final project in Science (which they did amazing in).

This morning we began with the presentations of their ecosystems. To review, this quarter we studied plants and animals, as well as ecosystems and interactions. The students had to choose an endangered animal and create an ecosystem using clay that will show how this animal can survive. Their ecosystem needed to include what their animal needs to survive, different populations in its community, a food chain, and one thing that threatens the survival of this animal. They needed to present this information and explain it in its entirety, as well as answer any other questions. Again, a job well done by every member of each group.

Towards the end of the day, the students worked on their Science Final Projects. They will be completed tomorrow, and then plan their presentations which are on Friday.

Together with the grade two class, the students made beautiful Christmas cards in Reading and Phonics. The cards will be mailed to their new Pen Pals in Canada, to a school that Mr. Y went to for 12 years! Hopefully they get them before the Christmas break. Our Canadian pen pals wrote us letters and we will be responding to them in the new year.

- finished reading Young Thomas Edison, and made connections to the text and compared his education with our education.
