This morning's Assembly was a special one. DISK awarded the students that had Honors (90% or higher) in the first semester. Honorable Mention awards were also rewarded to students that were very close to honors, but maybe one or two grades brought down the average just a touch.
Congratulations to our honor students in Grade 3, as well as all the other honor students in the other grades.
Today in Social Studies, we identified community leaders and government leaders and what services they can provide.
In Math, we learned some special ways to multiply when 9 is the factor.
In Reading and Phonics, we learned how to coach when we do the Read to Someone Daily 5 component.
HOMEWORK:
1) Reading Logs - as a reminder, 20% per day is given for completing the Reading Log (max 5 days)
2) Math - p. 60
3) Word Work - this is one option in the Daily 5 - students will choose 8 spelling words and complete a Picture Dictionary. Choose a word, write a good sentence of at least 7 words, and then draw a picture showing that you understand the meaning of the word.
NOTICES:
- For our House System, the BLUE Team had the most points at the end of the semester, so they are rewarded with a Pizza party on Friday. Congrats to Alpha, Eden, and Michael on helping the Blue Team get the most points.
- Quizzes this week - both on Friday - Spelling Test and Science Quiz (more details to come tomorrow regarding Science quiz)
- Next week's Family Day events will include Mass and Team Building in the morning, followed by the Family Day lunch, and then the Sports Day will begin at 1pm and continue throughout the afternoon.
Have a great evening.
Mr. Yaremchuk
