No Spelling test today, so we dove right into sharing our weekend plans, and reviewing some aspects of the Daily 5.
After learning about earthquakes, volcanoes, and floods, the students got into groups to debate over which one is worse for people and living things. Perhaps the earthquakes were the winners.
After recess, the students used marbles to make arrays to show how we can make multiplication sentences when 8 is a factor into smaller multiplication sentences.
In ECA (electives will start next week), the students worked on the glacier experiment we began yesterday in Science.
HOMEWORK:
1) Math p. 59
2) Work on Writing - students chose another topic to write about - please write a minimum of 7 sentences and a maximum of 1 page in your notebooks. Please double space.
3) Reading Logs - next week we will return to giving 20% for each day the Reading Log is complete (5 days/week = 100%), as well as a Dojo Point.
New Spelling Words for next Friday - toast, dragon, spaceship, zigzag, nobody, ladybug, famous, eight, balloon, soften, puffin, force, brilliant, conflict, weathering, volcano
NOTICES:
- You've heard a lot about the Daily 5 this week. We are trying to build our classroom library to make the Daily 5 experience even better. In addition to some new books purchased for the classroom, we are hoping students could lend/borrow/donate reading materials to the Grade 3 classroom for the remainder of the year. It's your option if you want it returned when we are finished, or donate them to the school where they would stay in the Grade 3 classroom - it's your choice. Either way, the more, the better. Reading materials can include books, magazines, newspapers, etc.
- Report cards were sent home today.
- The Winter School Magazine was also sent home as well. Great work and news from every grade. It's really nice to see such a close-knit community.
Have an amazing weekend!
Mr. Yaremchuk
