During Assembly, Mr. Chao gave us a great introduction about ecology and how people can help reduce the effects of climate change. We then had a parade outside to look at the wall we will be painting, and then to our garden plots. Starting tomorrow, we will be painting and working in the garden. For tomorrow, please bring an apron, a mask, and clothes that can get dirty during painting and gardening.
This will be an exciting year long project that will beautify our campus even more, as well as bring our already close-knit student community even closer.
After Assembly, we jumped into our Math lesson. We reviewed line plots first, and then used tables of data to solve problems.
In the afternoon we had Reading and Social Studies. For Reading, we reviewed the vocabulary words and students got to share their knowledge of the words. Once we finished that, we practiced for the Language Festival. Each student received a character for the Reader's Theatre they will perform. They are more than welcome to practice their lines at home and try for more expression and tone.
For Social Studies, students had the opportunity to show how people adapt to different environments. The students had to explain how their house is suitable in their environment and what natural resources were used in making their house.
HOMEWORK:
1) Math p. 38
2) Spelling Words Sentences - please choose 7 words and make a sentence for each word
3) Bring old clothes, an apron, and a mask that can get dirty when painting outside or working in the garden.
NOTICES:
Students were given a newsletter regarding the Language Festival and Family Day lunch. Please return the notice by Thursday with the appropriate information. Thank you.
Have a wonderful Monday evening.
Mr. Yaremchuk
