Science Fair Day Two!!

We had a terrific time today in the classroom:
  • Language Arts - Spelling test
  • Science - defined a mixture and substances, then making a mixture with substances. The students all had numerous turns making putting substances into a mixture that became a fruit salad. It was delicious! Reila had some yummy jelly juices to share as her parents gave them as a reward for doing an amazing job at the Science Fair.

  • Math - identified, described, and classified solid figures (cube, pyramid, cone, rectangular prism, cylinder, sphere), and went on a hunt around the school looking for objects of these shapes.

  • Science Fair Awards - after viewing the Grades 4-7 Science Fair projects and completing a Science Fair scavenger hunt, it was time for the awards ceremony
I'm very proud of all students and their projects they completed. So much time and hard work was dedicated to this Science Fair.

Congratulations to the winner, Fiona!!  She had one moldy experiment.

Congratulations to Alpha for Best Creative Science Fair Project. Those magnets can really help a bean grow!

Again, I would really like to thank all the parents or other helpers that assisted the Terrific Third Graders in completing their project. You all deserve and hard work award!

HOMEWORK:
1) Story writing - please make a good copy of your story on the paper provided. You can write it in cursive if you wish.
2) Math p. 107

NOTICES:
- NO school on Monday - Labor Day holiday

Have a wonderful long weekend! Drive safe if you're leaving town.

Apr. 28, 2016 - Science Fair

First off, I would like to thank all the parents and other helpers that the students received for completing their Science Fair project. A lot of hard work was put into each project and your help and support is really appreciated. It was great to hear the students talk about their experiments and understand everything. Thank you!

The morning was all about setting up the displays and practicing the presentations.

After lunch, it was judging time!

With a small break in between, we had the chance to watch some videos our Canadian pen pals sent us. It was great to finally put a name to the face for all our pen pals. We found it rather funny how the students there were in the playground, some wearing shorts and t-shirts, and it was 6 degrees Celsius.

The day ended with the rest of the school and parents coming to to check out the lovely displays.

All students had a lot of interested viewers, and they did a fantastic job answering any questions. Great work students!!

HOMEWORK:
1) Vocabulary story - choose 10 spelling words and write a short paragraph/story using the words.
2) Reading Log

NOTICES:
