Assembly was the first item on the agenda today. It was a special one to honor a couple of our Terrific Third Graders in their extra-curricular activities. Ayrton won 2nd place in his Taekwondo competition last weekend. Great job!! Also, Alpha competed in a Go Contest yesterday and achieved an amazing 3rd place! It's great to see our students involved in activities out of school. For their efforts, they got some house points in school, and show how proud they are on the stage. All house members also painted a banner a few weeks ago, and they were presented today. Excellent work, students.
Reading and Phonics was right after Assembly and we responded to comprehension questions to the Jungle Book. We are on chapter 8, and nearing the end of the story. The movie was just released to theaters, and students are eager to watch it.
In Math, we reviewed our exam on time, and began the new unit on measurement. We practiced measuring to the nearest inch and half inches.
Social Studies consisted of a review of vocabulary, as well as learning some new words. We discussed what it would be like to win the lottery, and students shared what things they would do if they won.
HOMEWORK:
1) Math p. 89 and 90
2) Math test corrections
3) Reading Log
NOTICES:
- A short survey has been sent home. It is voluntary, but your response would be appreciated. They are a follow-up to the survey you completed in the fall regarding reading logs. These surveys are for an action research project, so your response would be very helpful in different ways. We appreciate your help.
- the Language Arts test will be moved to Thursday because we have the Police coming in to do a presentation for the students from 9-10am.
Have a great day, and enjoy your week!
Mr. Yaremchuk
