Apr. 19, 2016

Happy Tuesday, everybody!

This morning in Language Arts and Phonics, we completed three rounds of Daily 5, with a little different reading activity. After the focus lessons, the students got to evaluate a classmate's story and provide advice on how to improve it, completed word work, and a choice of their own. Today's focus lessons were: a) evaluate your peer's story, b) distinguishing between homophones, and c) Cafe Menu - Trade a word.

We estimated and measured capacity in Math. We also made a Capacity man that helped to compare and measure how cups, pints, quarts, and gallons are related to each other.

We listed the characteristics of the three states of matter in Science by watching a short Brainpop video and referring to the text. The students then got to cut out pictures and sort them under each state.

Social Studies will have a great ending to the year. We began the unit on economics and how people work in a community. The students will do different activities throughout, which will include planning their future job, and budget their income. The students have been learning appropriate vocabulary, and today we discussed what our goals will be.

HOMEWORK:
1) Eng. p. 116
2) Journeys p. 179
