Happy Earth Day!!

Today is Earth Day, and to help conserve our resources, we did not turn on the lights, made sure we only took food we can eat, and conserved water when we could.

In Language Arts, the students had their weekly spelling test, followed by one Daily 5 lesson: Listen to Reading. We are almost finished the Jungle Book.

Science had us learning about the physical changes that can take place to matter. We made physical changes to paper by making origami and then letting the birds fly from the second floor.

For Math, we measured weight in grams (g) and kilograms (kg). The students had to estimate and measure using a grams scale and a kilograms scale.

HOMEWORK:
1) Math p. 101
2) Social Studies - My Future: please circle your choices on page 1 and complete page 2 on what job you would like to have in Futura.
3) corrections on Pronouns quiz
4) Math quiz Monday - please study:
      a) how to measure to the nearest inch and half inch
      b) estimating capacity (you do not need to know the conversions of cups to pints to quarts to gallons
      c) estimate and measure length in cm, dm, m, and km
      d) estimate weight in pounds and ounces
      e) estimate weight in grams and kilograms
      f) there will be some problem solving
      g) this is a short quiz as we did not spend too much time on these lessons

SCIENCE FAIR UPDATE:
- All the displays look amazing!!  I can see how much hard work was put in to create them. Good job everyone, and thanks for the help, parents. I have spoken to your child about the display and if there are any errors. If you choose to make the corrections, you can. I will send a Dojo message this weekend about what changes could be made.
- next week we will make sure the students are prepared for the presentations.

NOTICES:
- quiz in Reading on Yonder Mountain on Wednesday
- Scholastic order form was given out

Have a wonderful weekend.

Mr. Y
