Sept. 11, 2015

Fantastic Friday!

  • We had a fun day today, despite having a couple of tests. The students whizzed through the spelling test very well, and then we learned about antonyms in Language Arts.
  • In Science, they continued the building phase of the design process. Their straw towers are coming along and looking pretty good.
  • Everyone did an excellent job in the money Math quiz.
HOMEWORK: New spelling words for next Friday: addition, subtraction, difference, germinate, seedling, flower, sentence, trouble, favorite, their
- Journeys p. 23
- Vocabulary p. 1-2
- READING LOGS!!!!  I'm very happy to introduce a new, daily homework. Yes, daily, but it's something the kids will enjoy and it will be very beneficial. The students each have their own folder, and you will find my plan and instructions inside. A very important thing I'm asking here is for support at home. Please help, and encourage your child to make the reading log a fun, daily routine. Their rewards are stated in the folder. Thank you very much in advance for your help with the Reading Logs.

NOTICES:
1) Exams next week: Math Unit 1 test Tuesday (we will review on Monday), Reading quiz Thursday, Language Arts quiz Friday, and Spelling test Friday. Sorry, I know that seems like a lot, but they will all be rather short and sweet (except the Math, ha).

2) Pen Pals!!!! The Terrific 3rd Graders, along with the 2nd Grade Superstars, will be receiving letters from my friend's class in Canada. Students will be able to practice their letter writing skills and also give them an opportunity to communicate with a peer from another country. It will be an exciting, on-going writing activity.

Have a splendid weekend!!  Enjoy the sunshine!!

Mr. Yaremchuk
