Sept. 21, 2015

Welcome to the final full week of September. Hope you enjoyed your weekend.

This morning in Assembly we talked about the House System we are using. We reminded students how their behavior outside the classroom can have a positive or negative impact on their house. Each student was also given a colored bracelet to wear during school hours so everyone knows what house they belong to. We then separated into our house teams and had some fun team building exercises.

Because the team building exercises went a little longer than expected, we didn't have the chance to complete the lesson on reading maps in Social Studies. As a result, the students do not have to complete the Social homework today. During Social, the students presented their holiday posters, and it was determined the Hot Air Balloon Festival is the holiday that was chosen to be the most popular (according to G1-G3 voting). However, it was such a close count. Every group did an amazing job on their posters.

In Math, we reviewed and practiced addition by regrouping ones.

This week in Reading we will be doing a Reader's Theatre. Students took turns being a different character in the story "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs" and will present it to the Grade 1 and 2's on Thursday.

It was also a special day for one of our students. It was Michael's birthday today, and he was very generous to share a birthday cake with the class, and also the staff. Thanks again, Michael.

HOMEWORK: Spelling words sentences - choose 5 words and make a sentence for each word, and please make the sentence at least 6 words long.
Social homework has been postponed till tomorrow after we do map work in class.
So, only one homework tonight, that means everyone should have time to complete the Reading Log homework.

Also, Mr. Yanna has passed on the study sheet for the Health and PE exams that are next week.

TTFN - Ta ta for now. Have a good night.

Mr. Yaremchuk
